Organizational Development for Volunteer Based Initiatives
This course will help those seeking to create a successful plan for their community oriented, volunteer-based initiatives. If you have an idea for something you have always wanted to start, or if you already have an organization which helps your community, this course is for you.
Lessons will focus on writing good Mission and Vision Statements to communicate the goals of the organization, Project Management for goal setting and creating a plan for meeting those goals, and reaching out to the community for volunteers, donations, and financial support in Getting Support for Your Work.

- Lesson 1: Introduction ModuleIn this module, we introduce the concepts of the course Organizational Development for Volunteer-Based Initiatives.1
- Lesson 2: Mission and Vision StatementIn this module, we will define what is a Mission Statement and a Vision Statement and review why they are important in attracting people to your organization. These statements allow you to establish what your organization does and why you are doing it.2
- Lesson 3: Project ManagementIn this module, we will present four strategies to help you identify the long-term impact you want to have in the community. Once you have defined your long-term goals, we present a process for identifying shorter-term outcomes and the resources needed to achieve them.2
- Lesson 4: Getting Support For your workIn this module, we will discuss how to attract more people to contribute to your organization through value alignment, identifying motivations, investing in relationships, and asking for feedback. This covers people who volunteer for your organization, may be on staff, or contribute to your organization through monetary or other donations.2
